Past Class
Session 1
Who should take this class? This session is optional, but strongly recommended for participants who have never done any garment sewing, anticipate difficulty following the printed pattern directions, have some experience but feel their skills are “rusty,” and/or those who simply wish to cut out their fabric in the company of others. The Studio Tunic pattern from Sewliberated is available for purchase at The Old Country Store.
In this first session, you will decide on pattern modifications and learn how to properly lay out and mark the pieces before cutting. You should purchase, then wash, dry, and press your fabric before class. By the end of this three-hour session, you will have the knowledge you need to lay out your pattern, mark it, and cut it out with confidence.
Session 2
This six-hour class is the second of two sessions, in which you will construct the tunic, following the pattern instructions. You should arrive with pattern and instructions in hand, all the pieces cut out and marked, and ready to sew. Those who are relatively new to garment sewing may learn some new terms and techniques, and Janet will provide everyone with tips so that you can avoid some of the construction pitfalls you otherwise might encounter. While there is no guarantee that each sewist will complete the project in the allotted time frame, everyone will leave with an understanding of what she/he should do next and how to finish up the tunic at home.
The first session will be offered on Wednesday, May 29th, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Session 2 is on Wednesday, June 12th, from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm. Using the link below will register you for both sessions.
