Beginning Quilting Skills: Level 2

Past Class

This is the second level class of the Beginning Quilting Skills series. In this class you will build upon the basic skills necessary to make a quilt.

You will be making one (or two) placemats to show off your new skills to friends and family alike. These placemats go together quickly, and you’ll be surprised and excited at the results.

You will:
• use raw edge applique techniques
• work with fusible interfacing
• use the blanket or zig-zag stitch on a sewing machine
• review cutting with a rotary cutter and mat
• review sewing an accurate ¼ “ seam
• get more practice cutting out pieces and sewing them together

Level: This is a beginner class, however, it is strongly suggested that you complete the first Beginning Skills class at The Old Country Store. Check the class listings for the schedule.
OR
Know how to do the following with minimal assistance:
• thread and operate your sewing machine (or one of our Bernina 330 machines)
• use a rotary cutter and ruler to cut out fabric pieces
• sew a consistent ¼” seam
• read and follow quilt making instructions
