Hearts to Love, Hands to Serve: September Charity Quilt Group

Upcoming Class

The Charity Quilt Group is a monthly gathering of quilters of all skill levels who come together to sew quilt tops that are later finished and donated to a chosen charity. Meetings take place from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM in Classroom 1 at The Old Country Store. Each session focuses on a simple block design guided by a monthly theme and supply list. Participants are encouraged to use 100% unwashed cotton fabric in a limited color palette to help maintain consistency and reduce space issues.

Every other month, a short skill demo is offered to help participants strengthen their quilting techniques. Quilt tops may be completed during the event or taken home for finishing. Finished tops can be quilted through The Old Country Store at a 10% discount or participants can volunteer to quilt the tops at home. A new recipient charity is selected by group vote every six months, and quilt labels are embroidered for each donation. Group members are also invited to contribute to a scrapbook or display board that documents the quilts and their makers.

Fabric donations—especially batting, backing, and scrap cottons—are always welcome to help support the mission. This group is free to join, but advance registration is required due to limited space.

Together, we sew with purpose—guided by our motto: Hearts to Love, Hands to Serve.
