Place mats also give you a great opportunity to sharpen your free-motion quilting skills on a project that's easy to manage on a standard sewing machine.

The pattern used in class is for a set of four place mats (14" x 20" each). Your goal in class will be to sew at least one place mat and go home with the confidence and enthusiasm to complete the set.

Piecing and Quilting 101

This two-session class is designed for those with some sewing experience, but new to quilting. Rather than beginning with a bed-size quilt, our project will be small and manageable so as not to overwhelm you.

Our first class will teach accurate rotary cutting and block construction as we make the versatile Arkansas Crossroads block from Alex Anderson’s book, “Make Your First Quilt".

In our second class we will put the quilt together. We will learn about quilting patterns and how to use quilting tools. The quilt sandwich will be quilted by machine.

So gather some basic supplies and fabric you love, and join us for your first quilt journey!

This class ($88) will be taught by Sherry Musselman in TWO sessions:
Monday, April 24, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and
Monday, May 1, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Quilt-as-you-Go Zip Strip Quilt

Prairie Sky Quilting’s clever use of the Batting Buddy Template makes this “Quilt As You Go” project an easy and fun quilting experience.

The “Zip Strip” pattern will look great in any colors you choose. It focuses on piecing and quilting each block in one step, then connecting blocks into rows that are sewn together. There is no bulky quilt sandwich to deal with, allowing you to handle smaller areas of the quilt at a time.

This is an exceptionally great pattern for making a baby quilt, but it also works well for a table or bed runner, lap, or twin size quilt.

This class will be taught by Sherry Musselman.

A required supply list will be sent with your class confirmation.

Choose flannel, homespun, or denim to make a 49” x 63” lap size quilt. You may choose to make a different size according to the pattern choices.

This class will be taught be Jody Beck. A supply list of required items- Jody's Jems Recycled Memories pattern, fabric, and notions- will be sent with your registration confirmation.
